#VoteCharitably Open Letter by Senators Omidvar and Mercer

Senators Ratna Omidvar and Terry Mercer of the Special Senate Committee on the Charitable Sector (CSSB), have issued an open letter to party leaders. The open letter asks for federal leadership, and greater collaboration between the federal government and representatives of the nonprofit sector. Party leaders are encouraged to support all 42 recommendations of the CSSB report and commit to a renewed relationship with Canada’s 180,000 charities and nonprofits.

CCVO is a signatory to the open letter and we encourage executives, staff members and volunteer board members of Canadian charities, nonprofits and social enterprises to sign onto the open letter, which can be found here. The sector is also encouraged to tag @ratnaomi and @SenTMM and use #VoteCharitably.

#VoteCharitably is an initiative with charities and nonprofits to make modernization and consultation with the sector an election issue. We encourage nonprofits to use this hashtag as well as #nonprofitsvote. For more information on the federal election, our Federal Election Vote Kit is up to date with everything you need to ensure that #nonprofitsvote this election.
